For more than 30 years in the funeral industry, I sat across from families in different capacities, including as a Pre-Need Counselor and a Cemetery Counselor, finalizing paperwork and gathering information. For eleven of those years, I served as a Funeral Director, personally meeting with more than 1,000 families during some of the hardest hours of their lives. Again and again, I saw the difference it made when a family had already talked things through, and how overwhelming it became when they had not.
But these conversations are not only about the end of life.
